The PEP high school course is a Steps-To-College and A-G Credited class, where PEP HS students can receive college credit and use towards satisfying their A-G requirements for UC and CSU applications.As volunteer teachers of the program, graduate and undergraduate students who are pursuing careers in education or community service, receive a unique opportunity to teach critical Filipina/o American studies. They gain skills in the practice of critical pedagogy, curriculum development, lesson planning, and teaching.

West Bay is a public benefit corporation. We are an extended family and imperative resource for many recent immigrant families in San Francisco. We strive to even the playing field for underserved, vulnerable youth and their families by supplementing our academic programs with financial, social, emotional, and cultural support.West Bay’s after-school program in SoMa is currently looking to for individuals as youth mentors to students grades K-5. Their general hours would be from 2pm-6pm Monday through Friday assisting K-8 youth with homework and assisting in leading daily enrichment activities.

More than simply reading with a child, our volunteers follow a proven, structured curriculum to help students learn specific skills necessary to become proficient readers.Volunteers commit to at least one hour per week at a chosen school site and help tutor students.

We offer spiritual and emotional care and referral services on the streets, in the middle of the night, every night of the year. We provide companionship to those who are lonely and isolated. We attend to mental and physical needs. We provide harm reduction for those at risk to themselves and others.Phone counselors who can arrange for a face-to-face conversation, and in the middle of the night. Counselors can dispatch a Night Minister to meet someone in an SRO, bar, coffee shop, the streets. . . wherever they may be.Our telephone crisis line operates from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., and transportation home is provided after the shift if needed for those who live in San Francisco. We provide free training, and no prior background or experience is required.Daytime Volunteers assist with promotions, event set-up, and at other times as needed.
